Arrest Made in $25,000 Robbery of Wellington Teens
Authorities have made arrests today of three 18 year olds for allegedly robbing two 18 year olds of their winnings from a Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino poker tournament in march according to investigators. Emmanuel Alexis, of North Miami Beach, Jahson Linton, of Boynton Beach, and Clinton Ellington Jr, of Miami, were charged with armed robbery and aggravated battery with a firearm.
Investigators on the case suspect that the robbers and their accomplices were watching Brett Maistri and Sean Remz, both from Wellington while they were playing in a poker tournament on March 29th at the casino near Hollywood, according to Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office and Florida Department of Law Enforcement.
After Maistri and Remz received their payouts totaling almost $25,000 dollar from the casino they were then escorted to their cars by the casino's security personnel. Then according to detectives the two were cut off by the robbers at the intersection of Wellington Trace and Forest Hill Boulevard. Maistri and Remz told authorities that two men in ski masks jumped out of the car and pointed guns at them.
After one of the victims saw one of the robbers point a weapon at his head he ducked and heard a shot fired and then hit the gas pedal. He drove around the robbers and was followed by the robbers into Maistri's neighborhood. Maistri hid in the bushes but the robbers still caught up to him taking more then $3,000 dollars from him.
The robbers then took the rest of the cash totaling $19,000 dollars out of the car and drove away, according to detectives. At this time Alexis, Linton, and Clinton Ellington are being held at the Palm Beach County Jail
