Bluff Europe Magazine Says Dublin is Number 1
Dublin, Ireland has achieved the title of European Poker Capital for 2008 by Bluff Europe Magazine. Dublin replaced last year's winning city, London and put it in second place. Vienna came in third, followed by Amsterdam and Barcelona came in fifth.
Bluff Europe said that Dublin is a lively and friendly place to play poker and another reason the city won is because of their large number of poker clubs. Inside of those clubs poker players will also find a large array of tournaments they can register for.
Poker has been steadily growing for sometime in Dublin and as a result poker clubs and pub poker leagues have been continuing to pop up. Last year Dublin came in second behind London but this year they made a greater impression on the Bluff Europe panel.
"Last year, in recognition of the inaugural WSOPE and the general health of its burgeoning poker scene, we chose London as the place to be. This induced a lot of snickering from across the Irish Sea, where they're rightfully very protective of their fantastic poker scene," said Philip Conneller, Editor of Bluff Europe. "But this year there was really only one candidate."
