Brunson makes History with win at High Stakes Poker
Doyle Brunson has been staying away from a lot of big money pots and has been playing a little more careful lately.
This hasn't been the case with Laliberté, ever since the minimum buy-in was raised a couple of weeks ago to $500,000, Guy Laliberté has been one of the more active poker player to be found at the High Stakes Poker table.
In this exciting hand, Brunson, having Ad-Td, raised to $11,200, then was called by four players which included Laliberté, having Ah-5h.
Brunson bet $40,000 when the flop came Ac-Js-4d, this time it was only Laliberté who called.
When the 2d fell on the turn, "The Godfather of Poker" bet $110,000. Instead of making the call, Laliberté who had picked up a straight draw in addition to having a top pair, raised the bet to $310,000, and Brunson went all-in.
The players ran the river twice, still giving Laliberté no help, and Brunson won the biggest pot in the history of High Stakes Poker.
