Celebrity Poker Tournament Kicks off with Million Dollar Dress
The SkyCity Festival of Poker kicked off last week for the first time ever and they decided to start things off with a bang. A celebrity poker tournament was held to kick off the festival and Amber Peebles, MTV Host and former Miss New Zealand, helped kick off the event by wearing a dress made of poker chips.
The dress was made of poker chips worth $5000 each and totaled one million dollars. The dress was created for the event and will never be worn again. Amber had security with her at all times to keep a possible robber at bay.
"When I saw the dress and how much trouble they'd gone to, I thought it looked really amazing. I mean, how many times does a girl get to wear a million bucks?" said Peebles. She also stated that she felt very much like a socialite when wearing the dress, almost like Paris Hilton.
The tournament event was the Lee Nelson and Brooke Howard-Smith Celebrity and Media Invitational poker tournament. Celebrities and sports stars attended the event, those invited included: All Black Ali Williams, Former Rugby League player Dean Lonergan, musician Che Fu, Simon Doull, AJ Whetton and Siobhan Marshall.
The dress along with those invited made for an exciting evening as the first ever Skycity Festival of Poker kicked off.
