Cricket Star Shane Warne Chooses Poker

The online casino 888.com has announced that it will be sponsoring Shane Warne, a famous Australian Cricket player as he embarks on his professional poker career.

According to 888.com Warne will represent 888 as well as its online poker subsidiary Pacific Poker at most of the major poker events around the world including this years WSOP.

Scheduled stops will include United Kingdom, New Zealand, South Africa and currently the 2008 Aussie Millions where he was unfortunately eliminated short of making the money. This tournament would be his first as a professional poker player.

Of his cricket career, Shane Warne said, "Nothing will replace the 20 years of cricket in my life but there are a lot of similarities. It's a game of skill. You have to be disciplined."

Warne has played poker for nearly 5 years with his friends and more recently been shown the ropes by none other than 2005 WSOP champ Joe Hachem.
