Everest Poker Happy About WSOP Final Table Delay
A lot of people weren't happy when Harrah made the decision to delay the final table of the World Series of Poker Main Event by three months so it could be played out on television without everyone already knowing the outcome. But Everest Poker isn't among them they recently signed a multi year deal to brand all table felts and the inner rung of the final table at the World Series of Poker.
Everest Poker recently released a statement that said they were "delighted" by the change.
"This move is a masterstroke for the WSOP's global profile and will undoubtedly make the build up to the final table the most dramatic yet," said Jennifer Joyce, chief marketing officer of Everest Poker. "From both a commercial and personal point of view I am hugely supportive of the schedule and from a European perspective it gives everybody a much better chance to see the biggest event in world poker."
The change in the schedule will see the last nine players of the WSOP Main Event compete in November instead of mid July as usual. The change was meant to build anticipation and boost ratings of the WSOP when it airs on ESPN. Not everyone believes their plan will work as some aren't happy about the changes they made in the scheduling.
Many people feel that the decision was made without considering how players and fans would feel about the change. The 2008 World Series of Poker will now run from May 30th to July 14th and the final nine players will be returning on November 9th through the 10th to play out the final table.
