Former Football to Pursue Professional Poker Career
Christian Vieri is a former player of an Italian football team has decided he might eventually try his hand at a professional poker career. Vieri has stated he will not give up football just yet but he enjoys poker so much he might as well give it a go once he is done with football.
Vieri recently quit football after being taunted by fans during a training session at Serie A side Atalanta. In a recent interview with Sportweek magazine, Vieri commented that he enjoys cards a lot but his future is in football. Vieri stated he will quit football when he is fed up with chasing the ball but he is not bored with the sport just yet.
Vieri also commented that once he retires from football he could become a professional poker player. Vieri loves the game of Texas Hold’em and just recently he competed in two tournaments in Los Angeles. On the 18th of this month, Vieri is scheduled to attend the PokerStars European Poker Tour in Sanremo as well as the Grand Final in Monte Carlo which takes place toward the end of this month.
Vieri commented: “I have always played cards during training camps. I used to play Italian card games, though, I rarely played poker. However, Texas Hold’em is just wonderful and it really gets you pumped up. I’m having a blast.”
