Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun Poker Rooms Booming
It was recently reported that despite economic concerns poker is doing well especially Connecticut casinos. The Mohegan Sun and Foxwoods have had full tables and people waiting in line to get a seat at the table. Foxwoods recently hosted the World Poker Finals and the poker room continued to stay busy.
A poker room shift manager at Foxwoods estimated that more than 800 seats were filled in the almost 1,000 seat poker room. The manager stated that business was up thirty percent because of the Veterans Day Holiday.
The Mohegan Sun has seen the same boom. Their poker room has stayed full as well and as of Monday over half of the poker tables were filled with gamblers. Workers at the casinos have stated that the poker crowd has gotten younger and more women are playing.
An example of the young players coming into casinos can be seen from the recent World Poker Tour Finals that were held at Foxwoods. Among the final six players at the table, two were in their early twenties. One of those players, Jonathan Little, age 23, went on to win the event.
