Gambling Cost on the Rise in UK

Within the next year the expected rise in the sots of gambling will rise approximately fifty percent being the largest rise since the year 1960 in the UK.  And has been driven up by the changes in the laws, the abolition of betting duty along with online poker and other gambling sites have had much to do due with this change.

The largest single cause of this is a new type of slot video machines that have been placed in betting shops since the regulations have become somewhat less restrained recently in the UK. There have been some comments made in relation to these machines touting them as the "crack cocaine of gambling." While comment from the Association of British Bookmakers stated their games are fully regulated and properly licensed.

The new Gambling Commission has reported that one in nine people who use these machines have been classified as having an addictive gambling problem.

Professor Vaughan Williams who is an advisor to the culture department and Revenue and Customs has said that the deregulation and online gaming will fuel the boom in the next year.

This boom began when online gambling emerged, and was boosted by Gordon Brown when he abolished betting duty in 2001.
