Its Going to Be Man Against Machine in Vegas
Some of the best poker players in the world have traveled to Las Vegas to pit their skills against others at the World Series of Poker and the Polaris 2 is also going to be in town with the same goal in mind.
The Polaris 2 is the most sophisticated poker Artificial Intelligence machine in the world and it is going to be put to the test at the Man vs. Machine Poker Championship at the Gaming Life Expo.
The Gaming Life Expo is going to be held during the same time that the WSOP Main Event kicks off at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. The Expo will start on July 3rd and finish up on July 6th.
The Polaris 2 comes after several years and thousands of hours of development by the University of Alberta's Computer Poker Research Group. Those that are going be going up against the machine are professional poker coaches from online poker training website Stox Poker.
According to Bryce Paradis, the lead coach at Stox Poker, "Against the current AI in Polaris 2, the average poker player would be completely dominated. The Polaris 2 team has made incredible improvements since the match last year. The most powerful change is that the AI will now learn from and adapt to its opponents' play as the match progresses. This year's Man vs. Machine match is going to push our team to their limit."
