Everyone knows the controversy going on about speculations on the effects of online gambling. However, a study done recently at Harvard Medical School contradicts with recent opinion that online gambling has the 'inherent propensity' to create gambling problems. This study was based on Sportsbook, however it has been said that the Harvard Study group plans on expanding to both online poker as well as online casino.

"Assessing the Playing Field: A Prospective Longitudinal Study of Internet Sports Gambling Behavior" is the study that was done in purpose of evaluating the common behaviors and conflicts caused by online gamblers. With the help of BWin and more than 40,000 players who wager their money online to bring them to this conclusion.

There were many things they studied and considered including but not limited to; how much time each player was spending gambling, how often they gambled and when gambling how much money they were betting on average each time they played. The results of this was that online gamblers were not excessive, in fact pretty moderate gambling was their finding.

There is still much controversy on these findings and the Harvard study group has an answer to this. They say that one of the largest reasons gamblers dispute this is due to personal recollection of their losses. Many people do not remember every time they have won or came out even, instead it is natural for them to remember more clearly the times they lost and how much.
