New Poker Room Opens at Mohegan Sun
Connecticut poker players are probably a lot happier now that they have a new live poker room. The Mohegan Sun held a grand opening this past Friday for their brand new casino addition. The new addition is a 64,000 square foot building and called the Casino of the Wind.
Back in 2003, the Mohegan Sun closed their poker room. This move was a bit premature, as the poker boom was just about to hit. Now with this new room, poker players can enjoy live games, tournaments and whatever else the casino decides to offer.
The Mohegan Sun added the new room as a part of the $925 million expansion. The expansion was decided on because the Foxwoods Resort Casino was attempting to expand by creating a new $700 million MGM Grand Casino.
The new poker room will provide players with the very best in poker entertainment. The room will have forty two poker tables with twenty four suspended televisions. These televisions are in place so players can watch their favorite sports teams as well as keep up with other betting. The President and CEO of Mohegan Sun, Mitchell Etess stated: “We are very excited to reveal Casino of the Wind to the
The new casino will also house other forms of gambling entertainment. Other standard table games will be provided including: Blackjack, roulette, craps and slot machines. In the next few months, a new Jimmy Buffet’s Margaritaville is scheduled to open next door.
Beginning on October 1st the Casino of the Wind will begin a month long celebration. The celebration will include a poker tournament with a large prize pool, daily car giveaways, signature drinks, celebrities and high profile entertainment. The entertainment choices include: Enrique Iglesias, Robin Williams, Janet Jackson, Bill Engvall and many more.
