Ocala Jai Alai Seeking Poker Room License
In their to desire to their keep their gaming license full of energy, Ocala Jai Alai in Florida is seeking approval from the Marion County Commission for a poker room license. Ocala Breeders Sales Company, Inc., owner of the Ocala Jai Alai and the operator of their facility, Second Chance Jai-Alai will go in front of the Commission Tuesday, December 18th.
If all goes well with the Commission, the next phase of approval is left to the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation Division of Pari-Mutuel Wagering.
According to Attorney Steve Gray, who represents Ocala Jai Alai, the additional license would allow another avenue for the facility to earn revenue. Ocala Jai Alai would then be able to operate the poker room all year long. Previously Florida Legislature only gave permission for facilities to operate during their pari-mutuel season only.
Stan McClain, Marion County Commissioner is reportedly going to vote against the approval of the license because he against the expansion of gambling in Florida. Commissioner McClain stance is, “....I’m going to say I’m not for any of it. That way, I don’t have to say one day, this is where I draw the line. It’s easier to be consistent.”
