Poker Player Proves to be a Sore Loser
A poker player from Edmonton proved he was a sore loser after he assaulted a fellow card player in the face in a casino after the person beat him out of a large pot with a better hand. The sore loser, Hon Van Tran didn't get away with it he was fined $750 dollars and got a year's probation.
During his 12 months probation Hon Van Tran, 34, is also banned from entering any casino so I guess he will have to play online now and punch a wall when he loses a big hand.
"Your way of handling disappointment at the poker table is not appropriate," said provincial court Judge Larry Anderson, noting Tran had a previous assault on his record.
Crown Prosecutor Jennifer Mos told the court that the April 15th punch up happened at the Yellowhead Casino following an altercation in the casino's poker room. "At some point the complainant beat the accused in a large hand which upset the accused," said Mos.
She said that words were exchanged and then Tran called the victim outside after he made a phone call saying he needed help. Once the two were outside of the casino, Tran punched the other man in the face. Then, another man jumped into the fight and hit the victim with a beer bottle.
A third man then tried to sperate them and had his prescription glasses got broken in the melee. After a time security stopped the brawl and called the police.
