Side Event Schedule Announced for 2008 Irish Open

The 2008 Irish Open is scheduled for March and the Side events have been announced. The tournament takes place over the course of a week and will have many different types of games going on. There will be an event especially for the ladies and it will be the first time the Irish Open has had a ladies only event.

Hold'em and Omaha will be the featured tournaments with a €3 Million Guaranteed Main Event. The Ladies event will have a €330 no limit hold'em freezeout while a €1,500 No Limit Hold'em Freezeout will also take place. There will also be a No Limit Hold'em Double Chance Scalp event that is new for the series and a €400 Pot Limit Omaha Rebuy.

The Ladies is an exciting new event for many members of the paddypowerpoker staff. The Head of Poker at the site, Nikki Newman stated: "I am very excited about it. I have always felt something of a personal compunction to help bring more women into the game. Colette Doherty, Irene Tier and Jenny Heggerty, showed us just how much power there is in the Irish ladies game. So what better backdrop could there be for a ladies poker event than the Irish Open itself!"
