Swedish Officials on a Rampage

The Swedish gambling monopoly has been in the news lately as the European Commission wants answers or for Sweden to change these laws, in the mean time Sweden has taken steps to change gambling both online and land based in their country.

The Svenska Spel is government approved gaming for Swedish citizens has even in recent days made comment that they too will scale back with their online gaming sites and software production, but there was no mention of their live gambling. Despite the fact that Swedish citizens have both land based and Intenet Svenska Spel, there are many other clubs that are land based who advertise on the Internet in Sweden.

In recent days Lotteriinspekionen, the Swedish gaming board has demanded that police look into these games and break them up. There is reportedly an approximate one hundred of these illegal clubs and in most towns there are clubs that are holding tournaments weekly and some more often.

In a report from Lotteriinspekionen they stated that police must take action against these clubs who operate in the open with illegal activities with out consequence. This report and the crack down in Sweden has all begun since questions arose from the European Commission about their gambling monopoly.
