The Dragon Wins 2007 Poker Player Of The Year

The 2007 Poker Player of the Year award was granted to skilled poker pro, David 'The Dragon' Pham, after taking down Event 8 of the Five Diamond World Poker Classic for $279,000 at the Las Vegas Bellagio.


Pham is familiar with the Poker Player of the Year Award, having won it previously in 2000. Pham joins the ranks of repeat-win Poker Player of the Year recipients, which also include Men Nguyen, 4-time winner, and T.J. Cloutier, with 2 wins.


In August, Pham took the lead in points in the race for CardPlayer Player of the Year, and held that lead for the duration of the year. J.C. Tran came in second place as the closest leader behind Pham, but fell short by 814 points behind 'The Dragon'.


David Pham has totaled 18 cashes in 2007, reaching the final tables in 11 major poker events, 4 of which Pham triumphed as the winner. His total earnings for 2007 earned him $1.8 million.
