WPA Board Chairman Resigns
June 10th, just two weeks after Wendeen Eolis was elected the new board chairmen of the World Poker Association Board of Directors, Eolis announced her resignation to take advantage of a role in the upcoming U.S. Presidential campaign.
The WPA founder and former board chairman, Jesse Jones, was unanimously reinstated immediately following Eolis’ announcement. Also relinquishing their positions were the eight newly elected board members, all advocates of Eolis.
In a post on the WPA website Jones was quoted to have said “We thank Wendeen for her valuable contributions. Her resignation is warmly accepted and we wish her success in her new role.” While in office Eolis facilitated the WPA code of ethics, and a revision of the organization’s internal affairs, among other things.
Jones is left with the task of assembling poker industry representatives for the WPA board. "Discussions between outgoing board members and other key contacts within the poker community will now begin," stated Jones. "Our primary goal is to invite additional talent to represent and advance the interests of poker players around the globe.”
Jesse Jones, a three-time throat cancer survivor, is a poker community staple. He founded the WPA on November 7, 2005. His goal is to have the WPA become the PGA of poker.
