Wendeem Eolis served as the World Poker Association's Vice Chair in 2007 and chair of their Executive Committee since December of last year and has now been elected to serve as the organization's Chairman.  Her mandate hasn't changed as she will be continuing to push the WPA's evolving mission.

Their mission is 'to promote poker as a sport by advocating professionalism and uniform rules and standards of conduct, and by helping to create increased economic opportunities for players'.

In 1986 Eolis became the first woman to cash in at the World Series of Poker Main Event and she repeated the feat again in 1993.

Since she was elected to her new role Eolis has been busy setting up the groundwork for the fist WPA conference and she has also been negotiation a deal with the World Series of Poker to hold a WPA mega satellite.

Eolis said, “This is a good a first step in WPA’s efforts to improve playing conditions for tournament competitors around the world".

“Wendeem is unceasing in her dedication to the WPA and willing and eager to take on any task, solve any problem to help the WPA in its evolving mission,” said board member Lou Krieger.
