Wildest Pot Ever for High Stakes Poker
Action on the High Stakes Poker series has been high on the last few episodes, to say the least.
Patrik Antonius picked up As-Jd and raised to $4,000. Jamie Gold had pocket kings, and re-raised to $14,000. Then, Antonius called.
3s-Qd-Th came on the flop and Antonius checked. Jamie Gold bet $15,000 with his over pair. Having one over card and a gut-shot straight draw, the Finnish player called.
With good timing, the turn brought the Kh. This, giving Gold the top set, Antonius the nuts and an ace-high straight.
Antonius immediately called after betting $45,000 and Gold moving all-in for $341,500. This created the biggest pot ever in the history of High Stakes Poker, having $743,800 on the table.
Since they are offered the luxury of making deals in situations such as this, Gold and Antonius decided to play the river three times, having $250,000 at stake on each card.
Gold excitedly shouting "YES!", when the dealer placed the Qh on the table. His luck kept on when the second river card was dealt. Giving Gold a full house with the 3d.
Antonius was able to collect a third of the huge pot.
Host of High Stakes Poker, AJ Benza described it as:
"I tell you one thing: Patrik can take a punch. Imagine if that was Phil Hellmuth."
