World Poker Tour Up For Sale

The poker tournament brand, World Poker Tour, is up for sale. The announcement was made recently that the company was up for purchase after confidential information was released to third parties who might be interested in purchasing the brand.

It is believed that several online gaming operators are interested in obtaining the famous poker brand. World Poker Tour officials have stated they have given the companies information about the WPT brand and the television series as well. Despite all the information released, the WPT has not confirmed or denied if a sale will be taking place.

The CEO of WPT, Steve Lipscomb has sent mixed messages to the industry as he has stated that documents have changed hands but that the brand is “not for sale. But of course everything is for sale.”

It will be interesting to see if the brand is purchased and by whom. Will it be an outsider trying to get started in the poker industry or will it be an established online company who is looking to add to their success?
