The WPT also runs a similar school called The World Poker Tour Boot Camp, though organized much the same way, it is designed for smaller groups of about 60 players at a time.
The two camps have become very popular as poker as become a little more main stream. Together almost 40 camps have been put on since January and all but a very few have been sold out. With tuition ranging from $1,695 to $4,300, these are not cheap get a ways but as the WSOP chairman Jeffrey Pollack says, for people that are serious this is just an investment in their future.
Both schools offer a variety of classes of poker games and if you plan to enter a $5,000 to $10,000 buy in tournament, Pollack said, "a couple thousand dollars for valuable instruction is almost like an insurance policy."
"The truth is that we can't set these things up fast enough," he said.
Does it pay off? SK Bill Spadea who paid $3,000 for a WPT camp. Just days later he cashed in the WSOP Main Event finishing 13th and earning a cool $429, 114 for his effort and investment.
