The twenty-six year old Russian tennis player Nikolay Davydenko arrived in China from the United States where he had lost in the U.S. Open semifinal to Roger Federer.

He will now play at the China Open where he intends to play his best though he knows he will also be answering more questions in an on going gambling investigation.

The investigation began over a British online gambling company found that visitor were betting close to ten times the amount of money on their bets than they typically would have. These bets were placed on a match that Nikolay Davydenko played in August.

The Russian tennis player said that most newspapers carried this story and in effect harmed his reputation and making him look guilty. He has claimed his innocence from the beginning of this investigation and continues to do so and will when questioned for the second time.

He feels that he has a need to tell the public that he had nothing to do with this online betting and states he has felt depressed over this situation. These statements were said at a news conference, while he tries to put this aside to play in the China Open.
