Study Suggests Rigging in BLR Craps Game

A new study suggests that players who play craps at online casinos powered by BLR Technologies may be playing with loaded virtual dice. According to a report by Michael Shackleford – better known as The Wizard of Odds – his results in playing the casino’s game for real money were so unlikely to happen by chance that he is certain the game is rigged.
The BLR software can be found at Legends.com, as well as at World Wide Wagering. Perhaps the most notable site using the BLR software was 5Dimes.com, the major sportsbook that also features an online casino. However, 5Dimes quickly removed all BLR games from their casino after the report surfaced.
Shackleford’s study was done on the heels of a complaint he saw on his site’s forums in late October. In that complaint, a player claimed that he was only winning pass and don’t pass bets approximately 25% of the time – a rate much lower than one would expect on those bets.
Shackleford then made 328 real money pass line bets, and recorded the results of each series of rolls. Not only did Shackleford win just 81 times – or 24.7% of his rolls – he managed to win less frequently than expected in every point and on the come out roll. The probability of being that far off on all results by chance along was approximately 1 in 6 trillion.
The overall win rate was even more damning. The 24.7% win rate was far below the 49.29% expected on come out rolls. In fact, according to Shackleford, given the sample size and standard deviation of the bet, the odds of winning 81 or fewer bets out of 328 was an incredible 1 in 3,940,183,270,420,190,000. To put that in more practical terms, that’s 184 times less likely than winning the Powerball lottery twice in a row.
Other players performing similar tests reported similar results, often with even more unlikely conclusions.
According to a report at PittsburghLive.com, at least one casino is standing behind the integrity of their games. Rachel Miller, the general manager of Legends.com, says that the company has purchased their own random number generators to work with the BLR software, and that “everything is perfect” in their craps game.
