Bodog Becomes New

Bodog users complained of being unable to access the online poker site and website in Tuesday. The next day, the sites were transferred to a new domain name, creatively called "newbodog," and announced DNS problems due to legal issues concerning the bodog.com domain.

Bodog Poker has not been the only online gambling firm that has experienced this disturbance. Apparently, a retired contractor, Mel Molnick, has been targeting firms around the world in patent infringement cases. Molnick claims to own the rights over the process used by every single us online casino that deals with live betting through electronic means from a remote location. The man, also the CEO of the Home Gambling Network, has also gone after Dr. Stanley Ho who operates a network of online gambling sites.

Much to Molnick's dismay, US District Judge Larry Hicks has dismissed most of the cases that he filed. This includes Ho's Macau casino operations. Molnick's only hope left is his case with another Ho-controlled company, Caribbean Online Ltd. However, Hicks has also expressed that winning this case was unlikely because the operations send winnings to players through checks and not by electronic transfers. Although Molnick has gained quite a bit through pretrial settlements with other online casinos, he remains distraught with the results of most filed cases.
