CEO Peter Nylander Detained
This warrant and the arrest were due to a proceeding that was filed in 2006 by PMU and FDJ the French gaming monopolies.
The European Court of Justice in 2007 ruled that the European Union treaty covered betting services for this company.
With this in mind Unibet is viewing this arrest as an unlawful act as the ruling from the European Union placed their service under the treaty agreement in 2007.
In a statement by Unibet, they say while they were aware this action could be taken they are outraged and rather surprised after the ruling of the European Court of Justice by the arrest of Peter Nylander their CEO and view this as a breach of the principles and ruling from the European Union.
The Unibet company is compliant with European law and are listed on OMX Nordic Stock exchange, along with being licensed in three countries; the Uk, Malta and Italy for gambling.
Until this issue is resolved Ragnar Hellenius the Finance Office of Unibet is temporarily in command of the country.
