Ladbrokes First Half Report

Record profits were posted today by the Ladbrokes but all was not good news. In the report for the first half of 2007, the largest publically traded sports book in the UK also showed that its poker channel continued to be a lag. Stiff Competition is to blame for the lagging poker department.


According to a company spokesman, "Our eGaming business continues to perform well, with good growth again in Sportsbook, Casino and Games products. Poker continues to be impacted by the competitive environment in the Nordics and the UK."


Despite have record profits of £195.0 million, poker revenue was down a net of £2.7 million. Competition in the online uk poker industry was has also caused Ladbrokes active poker players to drop 14.9% and unique active player fell 10.6%. Ladbrokes is focusing on their software delivering a Swedish and Danish language version in the first half of this year and has plans to release four more languages the rest of the year.
