Largest Poker Room Gets License
Much to the dismay of three casinos; London Clubs International, Gala and Stanley Leisure the Nottingham based poker club Dusk Till Dawn was granted a license to open their card room -– news that will delight poker players across the UK.
The case was heard over a three day period of time to address the opposition’s allegations that there was insufficient interest to justify Dusk Till Dawn’s opening. However, London Clubs International pulled out of the case on the first day of deliberations. Gala and Stanley Leisure remain throughout. The proposed card room premises was inspected on the second day, and on the third day Magistrates determined that the online poker room would be granted a license as a poker venue only.
Speaking just after the decision was made, Dusk Till Dawn’s Adam O’Connell explained, “Obviously we are all absolutely delighted. The magistrate said that if we were applying for a casino license then it would have been rejected but because they liked what we were doing, and that there was a demand for the type of poker club we were offering, they were willing to grant a license as a poker only venue.”
Did the magistrate’s inspection turn the tables? O’Connell seem to think so as he stated “On the second day the magistrates inspected the club and we think this might have swung things in our favor, as they were very impressed and had a lot of questions about it,” continued O’Connell. “After the final speeches today, we had quite a long wait for the verdict, which was a very nerve wracking experience.”
Nerve wracking or not O’Connell said that The Dusk Till Dawn poker club is slated for a mid-November opening.
