Today a press release by U.K. officials of the Department for Culture, Media and Sport warns that there will be fifteen hundred inspectors to watch over gambling.
Some of the other items that have been included in the U.K. Gambling Act of 2005, it has provisions to employ this large amount of inspectors to watch over online gambling and licensing. There will also be a Gambling Commission comprised of fifty members who will govern and regulate remote gambling.
Gerry Sutcliffe, the Sports Minster stated that computers and cell phones have become the way to gamble for citizens and for most it is for fun, however with this new Gambling Commission in place to protect their vulnerable citizens and minors, while also ensuring that crime is kept out of gaming.
This Gambling Act of 2005 is replacing laws in the U.K. dating back as far as 1845 and will also include betting shops and other land based gambling in the U.K.; they realize gambling has and will always be a part of British entertainment.
