Author: Cathy Roberts
The World Poker Association [WPA] has released an Ethics Code for poker tournament players. This new ethics code is designed to provide basic standards for poker tournaments.

Those wishing to obtain, or retain membership to the WPA which currently boasts more 1,333 members must adhere to the mandatory Ethics Code.

The Code includes five sections that detail each aspect of professional poker player behaviour, as described by WPA members.

These five sections that outline pro poker player behaviour are in addition to those outlined in the Ethics Compliance Pledge that was previously designed by the WPA board.

The Code of Ethics is broken down into 5 subcategories as follows:

• General Provisions
• Relationships Among Players
• Relationships Between Players and Dealers
• Player-Management Relationships
• External Relationships

The code bans any use of collusion in any form at poker tables, and includes excerpts designed to improve the overall professionalism of poker as a whole, with the goal of earning more respect for the game.
