The second annual World Poker Congress (WPC) is set to kick off November 29 and 30, 2007 at the Westin Dragonara Resort in St. Julian's, Malta. World Poker Tour president Steve Lipscomb and the commissioner of the World Series of Poker, Jeffrey Pollack will deliver the opening keynote address.

It is most interesting that Pollack and Lipscomb will deliver the joint statements as they are the respective heads of two major competitors in the poker world. They will be discussing the current outlook on the poker industry, both online and land-based, and what the future holds for this enterprise.

Sue Schneider is the president of River City Group, and one of the organizers for the WPC. "With Steve Lipscomb and Jeffrey Pollack, we will present two of the individuals most responsible for the recent poker boom," Schneider explained. "With their unique perspective and wisdom, they will examine the global reach of the game and how it is penetrating international markets."

Steve Lipscomb is an award winning director and producer in both the television and film industry, the mastermind behind the explosive growth of the World Poker Tour (WPT) and the launch of the 2005 Professional Players Tour (PPT). Lipscomb is also responsible for the WPT branding of a long line of merchandise, including poker tables, apparel, and sunglasses.

Jeffrey Pollack is perhaps best known for ushering a never before seen level of professionalism to the World Series of Poker. He founded Sports Business Daily and developed a keen sense of branding as directing manager of broadcasting and new media for NASCAR Digital Entertainment.

The World Poker Congress will explore the synergy between land-based and online poker industries. According the WorldPokerCongress.com web site, attendants will have the opportunity to, "Learn from the experts in both sectors as they discuss critical issues and ideas... Network with high-level executives from the most prominent companies service the fast-growing poker industry," and, "...expand your product range, improve efficiency and understand your customers better with services specific to poker."
