eCOGRA Approves British Gambling Act

For its testing approach to online gambling software, the British Gambling Commission won the approval of eCOGRA. Especially pleased are Online Gaming Regulation and eCommerce and Assurance (eCOGRA) with the Commission's recognizing of the validity of outcome-based testing and methodology.

The Gambling Commission, in addition to outcome based testing, will also require verification that the development, implementation and maintenance of a company's gambling software is up to the standards implemented by eCOGRA. The UK released a list of list of companies that applied for remote operator licenses prior to the implementation of the Gambling Act on the 1st of September, including some of the big names like Betfair and Bodog.

Bodog Poker already took steps to fall in line with the United Kingdom's standards, and recently received the U.K. Gaming Associates certification for its random number generator.

eCOGRA can go further with its testing than what the Commission demands. eCOGRA's random number generator (RNG) testing incorporates every live gaming transaction on an ongoing basis, and the organization performs monthly payout percentage testing.
