Antigua is Joined by European Union in Fight for Gambling
Many online companies that process financial transactions, from online bingo to several other forms of online gambling have experienced drastic financial losses and some are still trying to recover financially from the loss they have incurred in the United States market. These gaming companies that were affected when online gambling was effectively barred, accounted for half of the industries revenues.
The Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act in October 2006, in affect closes the United States market to any foreign gambling companies, preventing those companies from being able to process any financial transactions from online gambling. This has resulted in a breech of contract as far as Antigua is concerned and they are seeking compensation for that breech of contract.
The deadline has changed from its former date of Monday, to December 14, 2007, to provide all parties that are involved, to have sufficient time, where reasonable solutions or settlements are expected to be reached between the United States and the other members of the WTO.
