The Chairman and Chief Executive Officer for Harrah’s Entertainment in the United States, Gary Loveman, has stated the odds have improved for online poker to be legalized in America. The improvement is due to the national elections that took place last week.

Loveman stated in the Las Vegas Review Journal Newspaper that the prospects are “relatively good” even though legislation of other casino games and sports betting does not look very good. Loveman also stated that legalization looked good because those new to Congress were not “violently opposed to this process”.

It would also help Harrah’s Entertainment if online poker became legal because the Company owns the World Series of Poker Brand. Loveman stated that the Company will be “working hard at” and that maybe with the election appointments it will be a little easier.

At the same time as Loveman’s comments the United States Treasury Department was finalizing regulations under the auspices of the 2006 Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act. This act would ban online gambling in the United States.
