Illegal Gambling Bust....No Biggie
The first person involved with last May's poker busts in Winnipeg pled guilty yesterday but received no punishment. Neil Faderon who is 27 was granted an absolute discharge by Judge Rocky Pollack after he pled guilty to being found in a common gaming house.
The ruling handed down by Judge Rocky Pollack means he will receive no sentance and he won't get a criminal record, sounds good to me. But in an effort to get tough if Faderon gets in any more legal trouble in the year the discharge might be mentioned in court. For those that are shaking their heads thinking I must have read this wrong, you didn't.
On the night of the bust at the Barca Club in Osborne Village Faderon happened to be playing poker but he also dealt cards there sometimes. Faderon said that he was taking part in a tournament for which the club did have a charitable license for but after he lost out he started playing at a cash game where the house was allegedly collecting rake. Faderon told the courts the courts that he no longer plays poker and was quoted
"I actually haven't played since that night. I haven't touched cards".
