No Ruling For iMega
In the iMega legal case against the United States that had been given a thirty day time limit in which the judge would review each sides case has had no rule as of yet.
Friday was the end of the thirty-day period in which Judge Cooper was to render a decision, in the case that iMega brought against the United States and their Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act, claiming it is violating American citizens rights in conducting their lives as they see fit.
IMega has stated that they are confident it is a good sign that Judge Cooper has taken this time to review the case even though it has gone over the set amount of time. They also stated that with Judge Cooper reviewing this over the time limit they are certain they have not brought what can be considered a suit that has no merit.
For iMega's side of the case it is reported that should they be given the chance at an evidentiary hearing in order to present their evidence that the UGIEA is a bad law and with this there are two instances they feel may win their case.
First are the digital rights of Americans where they should have the same rights on the Internet as they do in daily life.
The second part of their evidence is that the UGIEA is actually a bad law as it stops banks and credit card companies from performing their usual practice of protecting their customers by placing online gamblers in a situation where they do not have these protections available this places the groups of people it is meant to protect in harms way.
