Sorel Mizzi Banned From PokerStars Website
These days it is very common to hear of a young and rising poker player working his way through the online poker world. Players participate in the top online poker tournaments to try and make a name for them and hopefully begin a long and successful career. But sometimes a story comes out that can dash the hopes of those who are trying to play their very best.
Most recently, Sorel Mizzi, otherwise known as “Imper1um” was banned by PokerStars for three months from every game on their site. Mizzi is an online poker pro who was competing in the $300 Pot Limit Omaha Event of the World Championship of Online Poker when a friend played for him temporarily.
This is a major no-no and many players have lost a great deal of money for this same move. At first PokerStars had said Mizzi would be banned for six month’s but then reduced it to three months after email communications between PokerStars and Mizzi.
Mizzi has already been in the news for similar behavior. Last year he played on Full Tilt Poker during the $1 million guaranteed event under the account of Chris “BluffMagCV” Vaughn. This seems to be happening more often these days. Josh Field was just banned from PokerStars after he had created several accounts and then his friends accounts were sanctioned because they had sent his money.
It seems players would learn by now that they are going to be found out one way or the other if they are playing on someone else’s account. It makes the player look bad as well as the game of poker. The poker rooms are penalizing the players for their actions when they play on others accounts or let others play on theirs.
