Two Duhamel Suspects Denied Bail

Two of the three individuals directly implicated in the robbery and home invasion of Canadian poker pro Jonathan Duhamel were denied bail Tuesday. The news came after all three faced a court date with a Quebec court.

Of the three, 22-year-old John Clark was denied bail likely because of his history of previous offenses. Clark reportedly has recently been convicted of two counts of impaired driving.

Meanwhile, Bianca Rojas-Latraverse, a 20-year-old ex-girlfriend of Duhamel, was also denied bail. She has been accused of planning the crime by using her knowledge of Duhamel's home and his schedule.

"The crime was heinous, planned, structured and committed in cold blood," Judge Pierre Belisle said in denying bail to the two conspirators.

However, 20-year-old Anthony Bourque, the other man directly involved in the attack, was released on $5,000 bail. As conditions of his release, Bourque will have to live with his father throughout the court proceedings, and must obey a mandated curfew.

The changes stem from a home invasion that took place on December 21. While at home, Duhamel was tricked into allowing the two men into his home after one displayed a package for delivery. Duhamel was restrained and beaten, during while he has since said he feared for his life. Though Duhamel suffered no serious injuries, significant amounts of cash were stolen, as well as his 2010 Main Event World Series of Poker bracelet. A watch given to Duhamel by PokerStars to commemorate his achievement was also stolen, but was recovered during the investigation.

According to reports, the WSOP bracelet has still not been recovered. It is unclear if any of the stolen cash has been found.

Duhamel made waves in the poker world by winning the 2010 WSOP Main Event. Duhamel was the first Canadian player ever to win the tournament, and took home more than $8.9 million for winning the tournament. Since the robbery, Duhamel has been on a roll to start 2012, finishing 4th in the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure $100,000 Super High Roller Event, and taking first place in a $5,000 event soon thereafter. Between the two cashes, Duhamel has already won over $550,000 in January alone.
