Betfair
The have seen a 30% jump in annual revenues because of this and their number of registered players are now over one million with 443,300 of that being active members. This is an increase of 57% compared to one year before that.
And this is all happening with the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act within the United States as Betfair's policy is to refuse bets from the US.
A possible contribution to their success is that they have reduced their dependence on the UK as 38% of their total revenues are from overseas players, which is up 32% from 2006. On top of their already existing licenses to trade in the UK, Germany, Austria, Australia, and Malta, Betfair will begin trading in Italy.
This just goes to show that the United States Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act has not affected Betfair as it has so many others.
Betfair is still 25% owned by Andrew Black and Edward Wray who originally launched the company. Betfair is valued at £1.54 billion.
