Italian Only Website Launched by PokerStars
PokerStars has announced that just a few days ago they were granted a license to offer online poker in Italy. Because of this PokerStars has launched an Italian version of their already popular poker website. The new website will allow Italian players to play poker online with real money in tournaments. The website must operate within the limits created by the Italian law.
The fees for players on the Italian site will vary from €0.50 to a maximum of €100.00. It has been estimated that within the first year of legalized poker, 500,000 accounts will be opened in Italy. This amount should create an estimated €400 million market.
“Players on PokerStars Italy will have the opportunity to win their entry into famous international poker events – like the PokerStars European Poker Tour and the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas. These competitions require players to have the right mix of skill, training, concentration and luck” said Team PokerStars Pro Dario Minieri. Poker has become increasingly popular due to Dario’s success and the success of Luca Pagano.
Fabio Angeli Bufalini, the PokerStars Italian Country Manager stated: “PokerStars is proud to be entering a flourishing market with this new product. This is a ground breaking time for the online poker industry, and it’s very exciting that the Italian market is pioneering this move. This is the start of a global template which could potentially be adopted in other markets internationally in the next few years.”
