This past weekend online poker room PokerStars attempted to break the world record for the largest online tournament of all time. PokerStars holds the current record of 65,000 players competing and this past Sunday the online poker room broke the record with very large numbers.

PokerStars left the field uncapped so the amount of players competing had unlimited potential. The tournament had a $1 buy-in and 149,196 players registered to compete. The tournament had five minute blind levels so the tournament wrapped up just before the six hour mark.

PokerStars offered a guaranteed prize pool of $300,000 so around twenty percent of the players earned a payout beginning at around $2. The first place winner of the historic tournament was oskar69 and he earned a nice payday of $50,000.

Final Results:

1. oskar69 — $50,000
2. Bommel222 — $30,000
3. TLWPB — $20,000
4. willis59 — $10,000
5. kruglay — $8,000
6. madmick62 — $6,500
7. DS1982 — $5,250
