California State Poker Championship
The California State Poker Championship is going to be starting soon and players are going to find a large array of No Limit and Limit Hold'em tournaments to choose from. At this year's Cal State Championship there are going to 18 events starting with $120 up to $1,580 dollar buy ins.
Commerce Casino is expecting a full house and is already preparing for the large numbers that are expected to participate in the event. The estimated prize pool for all 18 events is expected to be around $7 million dollars. The winner of the Main Event is going to be taking home around $300,000 dollars and this amount could grow higher.
All of the poker action starts on September 2nd and will run for 20 days until September 20th when the Main Event will start. "The Cal State Championship has developed quite a reputation," said Commerce Casino Tournament Director Cheri Dokken.
"It might be because the tournament was won previously by actor Ben Affleck, or because top-notch talent shows up each year, or maybe it's the prestige that comes from winning a big tournament at the world's largest poker room. Whatever the reason, this is one of Commerce Casino's largest yearly poker events outside of the L.A. Poker Classic."
Last year's Main Event drew in over 300 players all paying $1,580 dollars to try for the first place prize. Eric Crisp was the player still sitting at the end to win $324,815 dollars.
There are other tournaments on the schedule that offer great cash rewards without such a high price tag. On September 6thg and 13th there will be $335 buyin No Limit Hold'em tournaments with guaranteed prize pools of $200,000 dollars. If a Deep Stack game is more your thing you can enter into the Special $120 buyin No Limit Hold'em Deep stack event on September 7tth where players will be starting out with 4,000 chips.
