Fiachra Meere Wins Irish Masters Poker Crown
The Irish Masters has finished up its three day run of No Limit Hold’em. Four hundred and twenty two players participated in the event and Fiachra Meere managed to outlast them all and take the crown and the 150,000 Euro first place prize.
Meere qualified for the tournament in a freeroll along with second place finisher Chris Wood. John Rafferty finished in 3rd and won his seat after playing in an online satellite on the paddypowerpoker website.
Meere was extremely excited over his win and claimed that the turning point for him in the tournament was during day two when he was all in versus Andy Black and won, taking the large pot. Meere believed that win made him a real contender in the race for the win.
The Head of Poker at paddypowerpoker, Eric Booth stated: “We would like to offer our warmest congratulations to Fiachra, who battled through a very tough field over three days to become Irish Masters champion; I've no doubt we'll hear more of his successes over the next few years! We'd also like to thank all the players who came from far and wide to play in the event, as it helped to create a very special atmosphere and we hope to see them all again for the Irish Open next April!"
