Final Table Set at Legends of Poker

Andrew Frankenberger has grabbed a slim chip lead heading into the final day of the Legend of Poker main event. The tournament, the latest on the World Poker Tour schedule, features a $750,000 prize for first place.

The final table features six players who are neatly divided into two distinct tiers. The first group of three features not only Frankenberger, who has 3,015,000, but also Tom Lee (2,915,000) and Kyle Wilson (2,854,000), who all hold around three million chips. This puts them well ahead of the back end of the table, where Tom Braband, Franco Brunetti and Jared Jaffee hold between 800,000 chips (Brunetti) and just over 1 million (Jaffee).

Each player remaining in the tournament is guaranteed a minimum prize of $63,000, or over 12 times the initial $5,000 buy-in. Here are the remaining prizes in full:

1st: $750,000

2nd: $370,000

3rd: $174,772

4th: $109,000

5th: $86,000

6th: $63,000

While most poker fans may not have heard of many of the remaining names, most of them have extensive backgrounds in tournament poker. The eventual winner will have a long resume to back up the biggest win of their career.

For instance, Andrew Frankenberger recently won a $2,000 buy-in event at the Venetian in June. Tom Lee has over $500,000 in tournament cashes to his name, including numerous cashes at World Series of Poker and World Poker Tour events. Kyle Wilson is at his second WPT final table, having previously made the final table at the 2008 Legends of Poker.

Those at the short end of the chip count have fared well before, too. Jared Jaffee made the final table of the WPT’s Southern Poker Championship earlier this year, finishing 4th. Tom Braband has cashed in nine WSOP events over the last three years. And Franco Brunetti has made over $580,000 in tournament play, including a 16th place finish at the 2007 Legends of Poker.

The final table of the 2010 Legends of Poker will be played Wednesday at the Bicycle Casino in Los Angeles, California. The final table will be filmed for an upcoming World Poker Tour telecast.
