Ladies International Poker Series
The Ladies International Poker Series (LIPS Tour) has joined forces with the Pro Poker Challenge of America to create a new series called The Pro Poker Challenge of America Series. The event will take place in Mira Flores, Peru at the Casino Atlantic City. The tournament will begin on August 23rd and continue until September 1st of this year.
The Pro Poker Challenge of America was started in 2003 by Juan Carlos Mejia as a bar league that would hold tournaments for various countries such as the US, Canada and South America. Mejia then wanted to bring tournaments to other areas of Peru and also create an event for women in his country. What better way to do this than with the LIPS Tour.
The Ladies International Poker Series began in 2004 when Lupe Soto created the group. With over 200 other women, the group entered their launch events and now has hosted tournaments with almost 400 women. This achievement made it the largest women’s poker tour to date. Lupe has stated that she was very happy when she was contacted by Mejia and hopes to expose the game to more women.
The ladies only event of the series will begin on August 30th and will be a LIPS sponsored event. It will be a No Limit Hold’em tournament with a $200 + $30 buy-in. This event will be the first ever in the country of Peru for women.
Linda Johnson and Jan Fisher will be attending the event this weekend and both will be offering a tournament strategy seminar for all attending. Playing skills and tips will be the basis of the seminar. The tips will be those that can be used immediately and can be used by skilled players or a novice of the game.
