Paul Guichard Leads EPT Deauville Final Table

After six hours of play on Sunday, the European Poker Tour Deauville Main Event was reduced to a final table of eight players. The leader going into the final day of play is Paul Guichard, who has just over 5.95 million in chips.
The returning players will be competing for a top prize of €875,000, while all eight players remaining in contention are guaranteed to win at least €67,200. Since no deals will be allowed between players, there should be plenty of tension as the field narrows and the prizes mount.
Guichard is not being chased by a murderer’s row of poker superstars, but there are some talented players who are still in the hunt. Luca Pagano has had significant success on the EPT, and though he lost some ground after coming into Sunday as the chip leader, he’ll return to the final table in 6th place with just over 2 million in chips.
Another player to watch is Vadzim Kursevich. He’ll come into the final table in second place with nearly 5.7 million chips. The Belarusian pro is best known for his third place finish at last year’s EPT Berlin event, where he won €300,000.
Coming into Day 5, there were 24 players remaining in the tournament. It was a relatively short day of play, as the tournament was scheduled to continue only until a final table was reached. With play moving relatively fast, the players only needed to complete a little more than three levels in order to reach the final eight.
The last player eliminated Sunday was Sergey Baburin, who bubbled out of making his first ever major final table.
The standings going into the final table are as follows:
Paul Guichard – 5,955,000
Vadzim Kursevich – 5,670,000
Olivier Rogez – 4,415,000
Bruno Jais – 3,450,000
Vuong Than Trong – 2,570,000
Luca Pagano – 2,010,000
Yorane Kerignard – 1,680,000
Mick Graydon – 960,000
