Poker Tour of the Americas Schedule Announced
Vega Promotional Systems Inc. has announced that they will begin a new poker tour called the Poker Tour of the Americas. This will be the inaugural season of the tour and it is set to begin in 2009. The tour will have five tournaments this season and Vega plans to have six tournaments the following year.
The schedule released by Vega is a tentative one and will begin in February on the 21st through the 27th in Guayaquil, Ecuador. The next tournament will take place in San Jose, Costa Rica on April 10th through the 17th. Vancouver, British Columbia will be the next stop on the tour beginning on June 5th and continuing through the 12th. August 15th through the 21st in Cartagena, Colombia will be the next stop and then the tour will move on to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on October 24th through the 30th.
The end of the tour will have a special season ending Tournament of Champions which will crown the 2009 champion of the Poker Tour of the Americas. This tournament will be held in North America but the date and place has not yet been announced.
Vega is also planning to air footage from the tour on stations in North and South America. Vega is currently shopping for network airtime so they can sell advertising for the program. Players will be able to earn seats online as well as during local satellite tournaments.
