Update on L.A. Poker Classic
The L.A. Poker Classic is in progress and this year it has been one of the largest World Poker Tour events of the season. This year the championship is being held at the Commerce Casino, a total of 665 players bought in for $10,000 to make the total prize pool $6,384,000.
The final seven tables of the event will take home at least double the cost of their buyin and the first place winners winner will get approximately $1,600,000 and become the 85th poker made millionaire of the World Poker Tour.
Some of the top professionals in poker came out for this event, making space a problem. There were too many players at the start of the tournament so five tables had to start downstairs in the high stakes poker room. The players downstairs weren't the only ones suffering from a shortage of space. Some players in the second floor ballroom had to play on specially made tables for shorthanded games like Chinese and Stud Poker.
Within the first 90 minutes 25 players busted out, one of them was Shane Schleger who was out after 4 hands. at the end of five levels, play ended for the night and the chips were tagged. Poker will be dealt tomorrow at about 12:30pm PST where approximately 450 players will continue on.
