World Poker Tour Heads to Canada
The World Poker Tour (WPT) will be making it's only stop in Canada from October 26th to November 2nd for the 2007 North American Poker Championship. The highly anticipated event will be held in the Grand Hall of Fallsview Casino Resort, beautifully nestled onto a cliff overlooking Horseshoe Falls.

Players may buy their way into the Main Event for $10,300 (Canadian Dollars-CDN), or win a seat through satellite tournaments offered at the Fallsview Casino Resorts Poker Room.
The resorts Director of Communications, Greg Medulun said, "Given the incredibly positive feedback we got from the players last year, we think we could surpass our 2006 total of 497 players. Everyone seemed to love playing in this event, which is exactly what we want to hear since a bigger field means a bigger prize purse.
One of the reasons the WPT is so exciting is that amateur players who have been honing their skills in casino poker rooms, in home games and online can earn a shot at playing with the pros by qualifying through the satellite tournaments. They don't need sponsors or big bank rolls and they don't need to go through a pro draft or catch the eye of a talent scout. If they have the right combination of skill and luck in the satellites, they
get to play in the big leagues."
The 2006 North American Poker Championship was the first WPT event held in Canada. The winner, Soren Turkewitsch of Oshawa, Canada, entered a $90 (CDN) satellite and won entry to the Main Event. Turkewitsch fought through a field of 497 players, including some of the most intimidating poker pros in the world, to take home more than $1-million (CDN).
