2008 WSOP Dates Announced

The Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas will be hosting the 39th Annual World Series of Poker (WSOP). Owned by Harrah's Entertainment, the tournament will run from May 30 through July 17, 2008, extended two days longer than the 2007 WSOP. Milwaukee's Best Lite is the official presenting sponsor.

To simplify registration for the events, the tournament room will be open the week of May 26, 2007. Two events will be going on during the week and will give players the chance to pre-register for the events and hopefully solve the conundrum of the wait times and lengths of the lines for the 2007 WSOP. Harrah's intent is to not only improve on that, but other shortcomings such as indoor space for tournaments, uneven starting days, overall poor accommodations for players, and questionable in-game decisions. Apparently several professional players were so upset last year that a cumbrous boycott almost occurred.

Promotions for seats in the 2008 WSOP are not yet fully underway, but players are eager to see what poker rooms such as Pokerstars, Full Tilt Poker, AbsolutePoker, PaddyPowerPoker and Ladbrokes Poker have in store for them. Even sponsor Milwaukee's Best Light at www.milbestlight.com is having promotions for players to win seats.
